Breaking News: Turnbull Minister expected to stand down
Sources are telling entrehub.org that Australia's Special Minister of State, Mal Brough, is likely to stand down in the face of ongoing attacks by the Labour opposition for his alleged role in the downfall of former Speaker of the Federal Parliament, Peter Slipper. Brough was a supporter of the Turnbull in the leadership spill several months ago but his judgement has been called into question over his connection with a former Slipper staffer, James Ashby. The question is coming down to whether or not he asked a commonwealth employee to procure the confidential diary of his employer. When asked on Australia’s 60 minutes Mr Brough said that he had. In recent, and in question in Parliament, Mr Brough has consistently said that everything is already on the public record. Brough told Parliament that "In relation to the 60 Minutes interview, what was put to air was not the full question." Channel nine has now released the full interview and nothing materially different was present which has led the Opposition to this morning call for the censuring and sacking of the Minister for misleading the Parliament. It is believed that Mr Brough will tell colleague’s that he is standing down in the best interests of the Government and it could be that he makes a return once the Federal Police conclude an ongoing investigation. More to come as we seek to verify our sources.
