An unknown number of terrorists (or terrorist) has attacked police officers and members of the public in and around the UK Parliament buildings at Westminster London. This is what we know right now:
4 people have died
There are a number of casualties including Police Officers
It appears a car was involved
Members of Parliament in lock down
Londons ambulance service has said:
“We were called at 2:40 pm today, with the first ambulance crew arriving within six minutes,” the statement said.
“We have sent a number of resources to the scene including ambulance crews, London’s Air Ambulance and our Hazardous Area Response Team,” it added.
“We are working closely with other members of the emergency services at the scene, with our priority being to ensure patients receive the medical help they need as quickly as possible,” it added.
“We have declared a major incident and our priority is to assess patients and ensure that they are treated and taken to hospital as soon as possible,” it added.
“As we are very busy dealing with this incident, we would ask the public to only call us in a genuine emergency,” it added.
British PM Theresa May is to chair a meeting of the emergency Cobra committee shortly, to discuss an immediate response to the terror attack at Westminster.
Journalist Kevin Schofield has said that:
"I heard a bang outside -- it sounded like a car crash. I looked out of the window and heard a lot of shouting, people running around.
"I looked down to my left and saw a man force his way through a security gate. He went straight for a police officer and wrestled him to the ground. Another police officer walked towards him.
"The man's arm was outstretched with I think it was a knife, then I heard a few rounds of gunfire.
"Then it all got extremely panicked. I assume the armed police who surround Parliament day and night [took] him out."
Witness Rick Longley told the Press Association that he saw a man stab the policeman outside Britain's Parliament.
"We were just walking up to the station and there was a loud bang and a guy, someone, crashed a car and took some pedestrians out," he said. "They were just laying there and then the whole crowd just surged around the corner by the gates just opposite Big Ben."A guy came past my right shoulder with a big knife and just started plunging it into the policeman."
